Orb Bridge Pt.1

Look! It's a board!!! Pixar needs to hire me IMMEDIATELY. I struggled, I tried, and I gave it my best shot. I do like the overall composition of the bridge though!

Tripod Color

This is my color pass of the Tripod. I started by looking at a bunch of different ratchet and clank enemies and I feel like even though they were enemies they were still somewhat brightly colored and so I wanted to translate that into my colors. I really had no ideas what colors I wanted to do. I just started with red and then I fiddled around with adobe's color scheme maker and then I settled on these colors. I wanted to keep all of the greys a kind of cool toned blueish grey, because I thought that just a regular grey would be boring. Trevor did help me with the vibrancy of it because in my original, it was looking a little dim color value wise.

Basic Rigging

You know, this was an experience. If I never have to do rigging again, I would be grateful. If I do, at least I know how to do it. Can I do it well? I'm not sure. But is there a skeleton and joints and constraints? YES!

Crate Textured

I wanted to make kind of a mossy old looking crate because I really like messing around with gritty textures.

I wanted to try Nick's workflow from the video instead of doing my usual PBR workflow. Ya know, I'm used to using the smart materials and working off of those smart materials. This time, I made a base color and kind of worked off the base color. I don't think it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to, because it still very much follows the PBR workflow. But I'm trying to push myself I guess lol.

Blueprint Basics Homework

We've got an open door, we've got a closed door, and we've got a giant disappearing rotating chair!!! I did NOT fight for my life to do this assignment or to submit it in Perfore.

So basically, I watched the 1st video that Nitin posted for the material changing script. I had to look up how to get the opacity channel to show up in the material editor. After I fiddled around with it for a bit, I got the chair to disappear and reappear! Its a magical chair in a magical dock.

For the collision requirement of the assignment, I made a door open and close on collision enter/exit. It was pretty simple and I added a timeline to it so the door wouldn't just snap open and closed. For whatever reason what I wanted to do and the 2nd lecture video wasn't clicking in my head so I ended up watching a tutorial on how to do the door. But then they started doing all types of complicated stuff so then I referred back to the lecture video and it ended up being pretty simple. I was probably just over thinking it.

I also migrated over the 3rd person controller from a default project because for some reason the 1st person controller in the file is broken? I had to look up how to actually make the character show up when you press the play button but that was also pretty simple.

Here is my perforce submission!

Bridge: High Res

This is my high res bridge. I fought for my life, my shoulders hurt but I think it looks pretty ok! I really like how the wood planks turn...
